Pellegrino outlines vision for new school-based assessments in Hechinger Report

Jim Pellegrino, co-director of LSRI, outlines what new and improved assessments that focused on accelerated student learning rather than accountability could look like in a story published in The Hechinger Report.

His comments stem from a new report by The Gordon Commission on the Future of Assessment in Education that calls on state and federal policymakers to commit to dramatic improvement in assessments so that they place a greater emphasis on providing timely and valuable information to students and teachers. It also offers a 10-year plan to help states meet that goal.

Pellgrino is a co-chairman of the commission.
