David Uttal is Professor of Education and of Psychology at Northwestern University. He studies the development of spatial and symbolic thinking, and their relation to STEM education. In his research, he engages with a variety of disciplines and received the Northwestern Dan Linzer Fellowship for excellence in interdisciplinary research. He also received the 2014 George Miller Award from the American Psychological Association for the best paper in General Psychology, and the 2016 Research Award from the Journal of Geography.
